All About Owls

September 8, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

$35.00

Our first date sold out quickly, so we have scheduled a second date for our most popular program featuring seven owl species with eight different birds. From our new snowy owl, all the way down to our eastern screech owls, you will be intimately immersed into the nocturnal and diurnal worlds of some of nature’s most accomplished predators.

Curator Anne Price, author and biologist, will take you on a magical mystery tour into the very secretive lives of owls. Colorado’s own Florissant formation yielded the world’s first barn owl ancestor, dating back to 65 million years ago; during this program you’ll meet the modern barn owl, a native to every continent on earth except Antarctica.

These well-adapted avian predators number twenty species in the United States and you’ll enjoy meeting eight of them up close: the barn owl, great-horned owl, red and gray morph eastern screech owls, barred owl, short-eared owl, snowy owl, and the burrowing owl.
