Donald L. Malick Photo by Randy Simons
The sampling of vignettes featured are the original illustrations Don produced for the Raptor Education Foundation’s first book: Eagles, Hawks, Falcons, and Owls of America (1984) with text by Frances Hamerstrom. The original book (below right) was expanded with more illustrations (below left) and additional text. It is now in most dramatic revision. Don’s artistic lineage comes from the line of G.M. Sutton, and L.A. Fuertes, and he is the last of the line of natural history museum artists whose field experiences are unmatched in today’s contemporary world.
